PlaicePlaice are a commercially important flatfish in Dunabrattin Bay. They grow to 90 centimetres in length and are brown with distinct orange spots on their upper side. Plaice generally live on the seabed in shallow, sandy water. Young plaice live in extremely shallow water. They eat mainly invertebrates, such as molluscs and worms. Mature fish also take other fish including eels. |
